The Lord - Ferret Photo session - Backstage

I thought about a new photo with Nahum.

First I needed to change the backdrop.

On the floor there is Nahum sleeping there. Always pay attention to the little ferrets when they are with you !

Need to pick up Nahum, and bring him in a safe place, where he will be able to sleep again :D

Remove this grey backdrop, it is heavy, and it will be too much heavy for the stand.

I take care about my material, now it is time to fold him, it is a 10x20 size and always took me time

Ok now I need to install the backdrop I want to use

Now I am quite happy, take me a lot of time to adjust the height for to make the backdrop floor match my own floor...

Go in the garden the day before, in the ice and snow, kick with my boots this flowers pots to remove it from ice...

Washed it and now ready to use

Nahum always sleepy in the blanket :D Carefully take it. I don't want to excite him

Kisses time, I use a remote, my camera is on a tripod and settled to take pictures with the remote (very useful)

Now I must to make things fast and quick, and not to be far to Nahum, if he want to go out, he we simply jump and can injury himself. So I need to carefully watch him and understand what he want to do.

He is a lot wondering, what crasy thing his mom has invented again :no:

Update about Nahum and Lil Bear

Nahum cancer seems to comes back :no: he loses a lot of hair on his tail :(

 I called the vet who gave him the Deslorelin Implant, they gave me an appointment for Friday morning, I was so really happy ...  but they called me back again, the vet said that I need to see Nahum's regular vet. I explained I did, and I want him to see if all is ok with the implant, but they don't accepted to give me an appointment.

I am really lost there and not happy

Lil Bear is fine, his eye is less swollen and it is more yellow than red around his eye, but something very very strange, his tail his all yellow now ... beautiful fur but yellow

lil Bear will have an appointment with his regular vet, I will bring Nahum with me, but I know it will be for nothing as it not her she did the implant.

I wanted to do something with red palette color ...

I don't remember how long I have worked on the set up for to be finally happy with the result.

And here are the backstage ... LoL ... ENJOY !!!

 

  

  

The red was too dull so I added a white transparent curtain...

 

Still not wat I wanted, too red, too dull, too empty... I looked on my material and remember I have a backdrop almost transparent with plenty spots on it... I installed it front of the red sheet

 

Hummm, really better...

Hahaha... just too funny, very artistic socks !

I found the burgundy curtain under Nahum not enough fine, so I changed it for a shirt of mines ;)

 

 

 People ask how I do for to make my ferrets stay still long enough for photograph them.
As you can see Nahum moves too ... lol ....

How to photograph FERRETS ...

How do you get your ferrets to cooperate for your photos ?


I got this questions many and many time :)

People "owned" by ferrets knows it is really hard to picture them.

They move a lot, they are fast, they are curious and put the nose on the lens.

It is a real challenge to capture them

* I take a lot of pictures in  a session, it can be over 300 to get 3 decent and one great pic. It is a statistic I have noticed ;)

* Nahum is more easy to picture. He is more patient with me and very calm. He is more old too. Nahum was 10 weeks old when I bring him to home so since the time he knows what I am doing when I have my camera in my hand.

* It is more difficult with Petit Ours (Bear) how is moving and bouncing all the time. That happens he doesn't move for a few second, so it is good to have a big memory card, and the finger always ready on the button. When I have an idea of photo I want to take, I prepare in advance all the things I need while they are sleeping. I test also my camera, for the lighting, etc... and after I will keep my little ones on the prepared place. Once some things are new, or moved, there are little curious, so more calm while the few minutes of exploratory.

- Time

- Patience

- Perseverance

- Great memory card

- Don't look at each photo you are taking on you camera, you will miss a great moment (Just verify at the beginning make   sure you camera is well settled)

- Put your body down, walk on your knees, and have toys with you

- Try to have the more light possible. Day light is the best ! But please avoid direct flash in their little eyes :(

- If you are enough lucky to have an external flash, please direct the light to the roof. Anyway the result will be better as the light will be reflected down by the roof.
- Use curtains, covers, sheets, carpets to make your decoration
- Use your creativity and imagination

- It is a time for to be with your ferret, play and take it easy
- And...if that didn't work... Well at least you have spend time with your baby ;)

Nahum laying on this big red chair, at first he didn't want to stay on it. I think I have reinstalled  him back on that chair and pink carpet perhaps more 20 times. It is also like a game. And they must to take it as a game too. After a while, he get tired and will stay here...

About the best camera :?

I have some wonderful shots (in my opinion)that I did with a little camera Konica Minolta Z2 (4 mega pixel)

I work also with a Nikon D60 and D200 which are pro, but with ferrets the magical receipt is not in the camera ;)
