Helping Ferrets Shelters & Rescues ... Raffles & Auctions !

Each time when it is possible I help the Ferrets Shelters & Rescues with what I have in my hands.
For me it is : My photography. But YOU, if you want it, you can also help them, and I will explain you how.
So go and please read if you are interested . I don't want to sound presumptuous, I just wish motivate people to see how it can be easy to donate or to help and bring them to participate in a way or another. At this time I see shelters closing their doors, due to the bad economy which struggles them. How how sad, please think at all those little ferrets who need our help. But to help them we need first to help their special and precious moms and dads who are opening their heart to them to keep their shelter's door open.

Don't forget : To donate is to receive ! How gratifying can be to know that what you do is useful !

Why do they need help and will always need it ?

Sadly a lot of ferrets are abandoned for many reasons, some has been even abused and it happens to see horrific stories. For some, previous owners discovered that to have a ferret as pet, isn't for everybody, or there is also the new human baby who is coming, or a moving in a new apartment where pets are not allowed, in sad cases previous owners who is very sick (it is the story of my little Doodle, her previous mom is fighting a liver cancer. Doodle was given directly to me by her previous mom) and there is also owners with the bad economy and hard time to get a decent job, who have no more money to pay for the care of their ferrets.

Many reasons, each case is different, but for the "more fortunate" ferrets, there is hopefully great people with the biggest heart to rescue those little ones. Ferrets need a lot of care. Often very sick, in bad condition, treatments and vet care are so very expensive. Shelters don’t receive money for what they do. They are all volunteers. Many of them have a day work, and all their free time goes to their rescued little ones.

The ferret community try by what they can to help to rise money for to pay the big vet bills, the food, the vitamins, supplements, litters pans, news papers pellets for the litter pans, beddings, hammocks, baskets, laundry soap, paper towels, cleaning products, even a dryer's machine, and more ...

Raffles & auctions are ones of great and pleasant solutions for to help a shelter to rise money.

But there are also the "frolics" where all ferrets people meet each others, with their owns ferrets or not (it is depending the event rules).

All ferrets must be up to date with their vaccines and recently negative ADV tested !

What is "Frolic" ? : It is a family day all of fun and pleasure. There is all kinds of funny games, involving ferrets and humans. Human food, cookies, cakes, sandwiches, snack, beverages, a little fees for the entry, vendors, raffles, auctions, silents auctions. Sometimes veterinaries are invited and will give informations about medical things or about everything ferret ... People will be dedicated for nails trims, ears cleaning for the ferrets, for a small fee. There are also all kinds of contests for what you can register your ferret for $1 or $2 : the most big boy, the most big girl, more tiny boy, tiniest girl, longest tail, costume's contest ... And everybody are putting there hands in those funny events, and in the end of the day money will been happily counted and will be used for the benefit of the ferrets Shelters for who the event was organized.

That is for money and fun, but we can also help Shelters & Rescues by being their volunteers : to come on their place, and to be their "hands helper" : clean the cages, clean the litter pans, make laundries, even to play with the rescued ferrets ... help with the trip to the vet clinic ...

You can be also a "Ferret Sitting", or be a "Family care" in the wait that the little ones find a forever home. It can be good for those who can't have ferrets forever, and will help for the need of "ferret fix" ;)

I think there is never End about how to help out !

Nobody are rich, me neither ... and it is not all of us who have enough money for to be able to give out ... but not everything cost money ! How can you help ?

- Share the words about raffles and events. If you are reading this, it is because you have Internet access, so write a note in your blog if you have one, or cross-post in forums where you belong, or in your journals, your facebook and tweeter ...

It will take just a few minutes of your time and will cost nothing to you. One of your friends or a stranger reader can be interested and will be perhaps able to help out. We never know ! so why not to try it :)

- If you have more time, ask the shelters in your area if they need hands helper, and become one of their volunteers.

- If you have skills or talent in anything : offer it as prizes for their Raffles and auctions and frolics. It is not obligatory to be ferret related, humans need things too, even if they don't need it, they will love to have it :P . Like I do with my photos (so I must to admit in my case, it costs money for the printer and shipping, and in another sphere it will perhaps cost you supplies, but not always if you have stock at home) so : photos, crocheted, knitting, drawings, paintings, cooking, maintaining their websites, make their flyers, business cards, craft-Art ...

You see ... ! ... it can be easy ! and I have always thought that a person has always one talent in something.

For now it is what I have in my head, I will add more when more ideas will come.

The first part of this article is about how I help the Ferrets Shelters & Rescues with what I have in my hands : My photography. Sadly all the items didn't arrive in the same time and Sharon get some items too late for the Symposium.

I just have had a few days between the day I was gently contacted by Sharon asking if I willing to donate some of my Art and the date of the Symposium. I worked many and many hours non-stop days and nights to create the stamp, the envelope and paper letter. Send my creation for approval for the stamp, make all the items printed out and shipped ... It was "une course contre la montre" French expression meaning I was in big rush...

A few weeks ago I received a beautiful gift in memories of Nahum accompanied with delicious crochet goodies ...

Katrina has a big golden heart. She already sent me in the past an effigy of Anika when my little girl crossed the bridge.

Definitively Petit Ours shows he is subjected (right word ?)
Doodle never turns her head, but will look at Petit Ours right in his eyes ...

Petit Ours turns his head...and don't want any confrontation...

Petit Ours head is turned, he has stopped eyes contact, but Doodle doesnt't !

My poor white little heart, now he turns his body ... Doodle is still on her position...

And voila ... Petit Ours goes away and Doodle chases him.

This picture was one after the others, Doodle is going under the couch, not sure why...Petit Ours is away, but Doodle seems to have adopted this place.

Doodle wants to be the Ferret Queen

Day 14 for Doodle, Petit Ours and me in our new life of together.

Part 1

No ... Doodle and Petit Ours are not yet friends...
It is obvious that Princess Doodle want to be the Queen of the Castle.
Body language doesn't lie !
I will make my article in 3 parts because I have 23 pictures I really want to share with you.
Please don't be afraid or mad at me...
There were no harm, no blood, no poops flying everywhere, just body language... OK !
I was right here ready to jump on the middle of Petit Ours and Doodle.
For one week I have been very protective keeping both of them in my arms.
And finally I have a doubt ... perhaps they need to really show to each other their position.
So I gave it a try yesterday and again today...

And Doodle The Queen

Petit Ours sees Doodle and calmly wants to approach her. Look at the Doodle face, she seems outraged.

Petit Ours continues the approach, Doodle hisses, screams and opens her mouth...and
Here Petit Ours dodges the open mouth of Doodle, immediately Doodle goes away

Petit Ours is unsure about what to do. He doesn't move....

Petit Ours stays puzzled and Doodle is watching him ...

Quietly Petit Ours try again to approach Doodle... Time for me to let my camera on the floor and be right there.
Doodle has a brush tail ...

When A Ferret goes to his Veterinary in Canada Winter ....

It is me Petit Ours !

Mommy took those photos two weeks ago .. but she didn't have yet the time to upload them.
As many of you already knows I am suffering from allergies because perhaps something wrong with my immune system.(what the doctor said)
Two weeks ago I have started a new alternative medicine treatment, and today was my recheck and there is a little improvement ... YEAH !!!!!So I continue the new medicine and Mom will increase the dosage since I am tolerating the herbal treatment very well, and Mom will decrease the prednisone. YEAH !!!
Ok the pictures now from two weeks ago. I am in Canada, and it is soooo cold !
Ferrets have a very fast intestinal tract, so a litter pan is useful, if I want to pee or poop I can retain myself a little time ( a few minutes) but not so long.
Well that is my big carrier. Mommy opened it in two parts.

She did 2 holes in the back of the carrier to attach the litter pan, Mommy don't want anymore to let me have a lot of fun to make all upside-down ...

News paper pellet litter is the best, no dust for my fragile lungs ...

Mommy Rebuilt my carrier and add an hammock ... that is so fun !

Adding a sleep sack and Wrapping the carrier in a blanket ...

And attach all the kit with an old scarf, very practice !

And now it is time to begin the inspection ... Ok ... she didn't forget the scarf ! Good !!! Good !!!

What did she put inside ?

Sounds good !

Good I have my hammock !!! the trip will be nice :D

Ok Mommy it is Ferret approved !!!

Attaching The carrier on the back seat, since on the front seat, the weight is too much light and the security airbag doesn't detect it. Mommy has tried everything, with no success ... So she attaches me on the back, at least the 2 front seats will make a protection and there are airbags on the back seat.

Now both Mommy and me are ready to the long trip to visit my vet ... 45 minutes on the road if there is no traffic !

The sweetest little Ferret ever ... that is my Petit Ours (Lil Bear)

A real Teddy Bear, the one you can cuddle and delicately press on your chest...

To feel his warmest little soft body

Lil Bear is still on medications for his allergies problems
Prednisone and now alternative Chinese medicine : Hoxsey-Like

And for those who are wondering : Doodle is doing great !

She is a very lovely little girl... but she hasn't yet accepted Lil Bear ...
She follows me everywhere in the house, begs for treats
Runs in the kitchen when she hears paper bags
But hisses after Petit Ours
I still have the hope she will realize soon that Petit Ours is a ball of Love
I try to give her treats when Petit Ours is close to her.
I want her that she associates : Lil Bear = Treats !!!

Hopefully I got help from my ferrets friends.

This evening I dismounted Doodle's cage.

In first I putted the middle floor in the wrong side,
so I wasn't able to install the stairs between the two floors.

Ok...believe me or not ... but it is Doodle who put her bird in the hammock ... YES !!!

Step by step, pushing the bird with her nose and at the end keep it in her mouth...

and put it in her hammock. At first the bird was on the top level of the cage...

After she had put her bird in the hammock, she putted herself ... LoL

All this time Lil Bear was in his tent :D

But Doodle decided to go out of her cage.

I think to photograph her was annoying ;)

Lil Bear was sleeping, but Doodle put her nose inside the tent.
When she saw Lil Bear moving, she moved back...

As allways Lil Bear has this incredible cuteness little face

What is going on ???

So Lil Bear goes out his tent,
Time to stop to photograph them, to have my hands free just in case
Doodle bitten Lil Bear this morning.
So now both of them is scared of each other.

Doodle - My new Ferret Little Girl

A new little girl entered in Petit Ours life and my life.

Doodle is 4 years old

She is truly adorable

She just need time to know that Petit Ours wants only to be her brother

For now, she is very shy and even a little scared about Petit Ours.

I think (and hope) all will be fine in no long time ...

Previous Doodle's Mom was so very sick and searched a new Mom for Doodle

For her it was a simple sketch but for me it was something that I loved so much.

Adorable, isn't it ?

pro and made in a way that damage is almost impossible.

Isobel the Ferret little girl

Went to Dee's place today.

It was so nice to meet her and her gorgeous and so sociable 4 ferrets.

Well who was the French Kisser ? Tyson or Samson ?

I am so pleased to present you the portrait of her new girl Isobel.

Dee has this little girl since 3 days only, it is a rescued little one.

She is a little bit shy but truly adorable and so beautiful !!!
I thought it was Isabel, but it is Isobel, what a very original name for this lovely girl.

And that is Samson (I think) and Tyson on the left top corner .. Those little guys were too fast :)

Toast, a wonderful ferret's story

Toast is the baby boy of Nancy.
I know Nancy because she is a member of the great group Deaf Ferret where I belong too.
((Ya many of you know that my Lil Bear is deaf.))

This morning Nancy was so excited by a very wonderful news :
her Toast is a celebrity ! Again !!!
We all knew already that Nancy is working with Toast for to help sick and hurt people to go through their pain.

Nancy's message this morning (so cute) :
"OK, You have to get the Ferrets USA 2011!!!! I will scan the article and try to send it but, in the middle of Petsmart while reading the article I began crying!!!!! That is my Toast man they are talking about and the pix!!!! Thanks Susie for sending those in!!!!! OMG!!! They only had 2 mags left so yes I got both of them!!!!! I showed it to everyone!!! And the girls that worked there asked if there were more as they were going to let me have an autographing party there!!!!! Why didn't they have more!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!! Anyway, it begins on page24 and there is a pix of him there and his story begins on page 27 and finishes on page 28 and he is on his firetruck!!!!! There are great pix there!!!! I am sooooo excited!!!!! OK, had to share!!!!!!!!"

Who said Ferrets are Messy ??? I think Momma is crazy !!!

Hi to all my sweet lovers, it seems people loves me so much and want to see more of my ferret live.

That ok, I am so happy to receive compliments about how cuuuuuute I am !

Mommy is gone for a good part of the day, she wanted to go to the store IKEA she said.
She need a real chair, she is always on her old wood kitchen chair, even when she is on computer.
Her back is so painful, and it was about time, she starts to manage it. Medications isn't always enough.

And she needed 2 BIGS Frames, she searched everywehre, but didn't find it.
She even visited Mickael store, the specialist of Art and Frames...
But the cost will be really too much high ... something as more $400 for one frame !

She find the biggest frames at IKEA for $36 ca each !
She came back to home, and opened my cage, and pet me, but I was too much sleepy and didn't come.

Mommy didn't wait me, and started the work ALONE, bad mommy !

Mommy didn't know how to do ...
there were a plastic protector on the plexiglass, and she didn't remove it ! HAHAHA

So she removed the fine plastic film, and instalated the poster ...
Ya the knife was for to remove the cartboard ... mommy has no nails at all ...

Mommy tryed to make it right

And finally I am coming... OMG ... What a mess in there ... A storm ????

And people always says that ferrets are messy, I have the proof that humans are worse !!!

There are obstacles everywhere ! OK ... Inspection begins !!!
Humm, plastic ...

Plastic is always fun to sniff, to walk in it ...

And there is nothing in the spoons ... Crazy momma ...

It is that the frame, for what she made kilometers in the traffic. Ok sound great.

But what I see there, Mommy !!!... there is still the name IKEA on here !!!

So I re-done all the framing processing, with the help of lill Bear of course.

Mommy said nothing to me this morning when she left home for her work.

She kept the surprise.

Since 2 days there were this paper from the post man.

Mommy finished early today and was able to go to the post office. When she was back to home, she opened my cage and put her cold hand on me. It must to be so cold outside !!!

It is always the first thing mommy does, open my cage, pet me and after she prepares her coffee, it is time to come, because she will prepare my soupy...

No soupy ??? but what is this BIG box ???

Autumn afternoon in a cemetery with a White Ferret

Petit Ours saw Dr Auger for his immune or allergia problem. The prednisone medication does a perfect job and the Dr was so happy to see how Petit Ours (Lil Bear) is doing fine. His nose is pink again, no more all red with sore ! no sneezing anymore, very less itchy.

On the road back to home, I passed front of this cemetery in Ottawa. This one where all Wednesdays afternoon Nahum and me walked peacefully. It was our lovely time of peace together.

I was very hesitant but finally stopped in there. In first Petit Ours walked backwards as always. He removed two times his harness. So I adjusted it more tight. Hopefully we were in a very quiet place.

It was very sunny and warm, I explained to Petit Ours this place was Nahum and mommy place. At the same moment the wind started to shake the branches and the leaves started to fall. I was wondering what Nahum thought. Nahum and Petit Ours were not friends. Nahum wasn't happy to share his mommy, and Petit Ours was so mischievous pinching all the time Nahum.

I was laying on the floor approaching to him for more photos ... Just before this shot below he was mad at me because he wanted to go out the room, but I didn't let him go, I wanted to continue to take pictures of him...and in more Nahum was on the other side...

When he saw me to approach to him, he had this very own expression that you can see on the image below of himself, saying :

uh ? ... Really ? ... it is true ? ... I will be free ? Freedom ?

Ok some very nice people asked to see those black triangular mad eyes.

Here it goes

Petit Ours is front of the fence, a Plexiglas fence (that I tried to manage with my best.)

Oh well he has already his tiny eyes, and he is looking at me by the side...

I didn't let him go to the other side, so he turned his body back to the fence and came front to me, with this very lovely look, a special look of him, when his isn't happy... No aggresivity, never ... just those black triangular eyes piercing my mind ...

Here Lil Bear wants to make sure I understand well his disapprobation !

As it seems I understood NOTHING ! Lil Bear (Petit Ours) returned front to the fence again !!! And turned his beautiful head with this amazing look ... LoL ... Poor little boy he tried so hard to show me what he wanted :

FREEDOM !

He is just too precious !

Finally when he saw that nothing will work, and that he will stay in the big room, Petit Ours go to bed, but no ... he wasn't sleeping !!! he was still looking at me with his darling black eyes !

Hey readers don't be mad at me too !!! Yes Lil Bear has had his Freedom a little more late !!!

AEROSOL Chamber - Ferret Bronchitis Treatment -

That is the chamber specially made for cats, that comes with two sizes of mask

There is hole at the end for to install the aerosol inhalator

That is my plushy ferret as model :D ... You need to put your ferret nose inside the mask...
Nahum wasn't pleased at all with this ... it was a lot of stress ...Can you Imagine !

You need to hold your ferret, you need to hold the chamber and to make a push... That is THE challenge !

I did many tries of many ideas, and end up with this :

Yes I patched the little holes with scotch tape ;)

I always start with the blue pump...make sure to have the pump in the right sens. On the photo
it isn't in the right sens,the pump must to be vertical (time to adjust all the things while the photo was taken)

I wait 15 seconds, I let the pump to fall and pet Nahum inside the bag...

I reopen big the bag to let fresh air enter ...

Now I repeat with the orange pump

Nahum loves his basket, and this spot in the living room, it is why I use it and I did it in this place.
When the treatment is finish I remove the plastic...Nahum knows now it is finished.

Hi Everybody

First a big thank you for all the answers and great suggestions you gave to me. You all have helped me to finally find a way to do Nahum Bronchitis treatment with the less stress possible.

An idea brought another idea, and with many tries I ended up to put Nahum in his round basket, or in his sleeping bag and all this lovely kit in a long transparent plastic bag. I put my hand inside it holding the Inhalator aerosol. With my other hand I close the plastic bag around my wrist (around the hand inside the bag holding the Inhalator) And I did a push ...

(I don't use anymore the Aerosol Chamber, the plastic mask stresses Nahum.)

Between the 2 kind of Inhalator aerosol (Flovent HFA (125mcg)& APO Salvent (100mcg)) I open completely the plastic bag to let enter fresh air.

I talked about this with the technician at the Animal hospital and she said to let Nahum 15 seconds like this in the plastic bag. It was confirmed by the cardiologist who said 15 seconds, no more 20 seconds, because the danger of the CO2, counting at least 10 breaths of Nahum (but Nahum has a very fast breath, so I go with the 15 seconds)

So if one day you have to go through this treatment with your ferret, please ask to your vet, about this procedure for to make sure about how long and about how many breaths you need to let your little one in this "big chamber"
For now I don't see a real improvement, but at least Nahum condition isn't worse so I believe he is stabilized.

Now about the blood test, Nahum is too much low in potassium and Nahum has a new supplement to take each 12 hours.

- potassium 1 ml (2 x day) (2 mL : 468mg of Potassium Gluconate)

For one week Nahum has had 1 ml per 24 hours, but the Dr did another blood test, and the potassium was still low. So now for two weeks Nahum will have 1 ml at each 12 hours, and after we will return at 1 ml per day.

Nahum poops have changed a lot : more liquid, almost formed, a lot gas, not black, but dark brown. We are not certain what is causing this, if it the potassium supplement ? if it is the bronchitis treatment or something else ?

Nahum has already Fortiflora supplement since almost 3 months, and that helped him a lot at first, but seems to be less efficient.

Nahum the Ferret First Promenade of the Year !

It was a beautiful day today, very warm, and I was free !!!

So I puted the stroller in my car and drove to go to the river :)

Nahum was happy to go in the carrier in the car, he loves trip in car.

He was so happy when I installed him in his stroller.

When I found a place clean and dry for his little paws, I putted him down.

But immediately he ran to me and climbed on my knees.

I tried 2-3 times, but definitively Nahum didn't want to walk, but wanted to enjoy to roll in the stroller.

You see Nahum seems so very comfortable in his blanket, and that warm up my heart.

The winters are so long, and I was in the hope that Nahum will enjoy again those little "walks"

And here is the river, and there is still some ice on the water, but the sun was so hot today !

Even if Nahum didn't walk, the emotions, excitement of the trip & of to be out, made him very tired

With his heart illness, the smallest little thing make him exhausted almost immediately.

Emotions, even the happy ones give to him a kind of stress on his fragile old little body

I love this photo so much where his white fur matches perfectly the ice on the river.

And Nahum looks peaceful !

I like lonely places, I have walk a little while for to be in this place,

But a man and woman surprised me, while I was making crazy exercices to try to photograph my lil boy

We stayed here a few moments again, I putted Nahum in his stroller, and zipped it.
I took photograph of ice in the water ... I saw a new contest of abstract photography by nature.
Not sure if I am too late or not to enter in the contest...

Sadly my Lil Bear doesn't enjoy it... He is as crazy in the stroller scratching everywhere and in leash he walks backwards...crazy crazy Lil Bear ;)

Oh Well I am a little bit frustrated today.

After to place the mirror in the way my backstop on the opposite wall can be reflected on it, I tried to place the flash in the right direction (must to think about mirror and reflect of flash ) :

So working the focus, and working the composition, put my camera in landscape position,
I will have less celling, and more of us :

The Ferret Blue Bag photography ! Bloopers

The Backstage and Bloopers !

First I need this ferret on the bed ! and the yellow sheet ...Hehehe !

Secondo I wanted this blue bag, I need to adjust the yellow sheet against the end of the bed

The yellow sheet is attached to the bed, time to put Lil Bear in the Bag ... LoL

Ferret wonders : What is going on ?

Must to be a new game : enter in the bag and go out of the bag !

Hopefully the floor is not so far, and Hop !

Here you see can my "great setup" with the yellow sheet just at the end of the bed

Ok the game continues LoL ... My mom must to be be crazy !!!

The Lord - Ferret Photo session - Backstage

I thought about a new photo with Nahum.

The Lord by =Yukkabelle on deviant ART

First I needed to change the backdrop.

On the floor there is Nahum sleeping there. Always pay attention to the little ferrets when they are with you !

Need to pick up Nahum, and bring him in a safe place, where he will be able to sleep again :D

Remove this grey backdrop, it is heavy, and it will be too much heavy for the stand.

I take care about my material, now it is time to fold him, it is a 10x20 size and always took me time

Ok now I need to install the backdrop I want to use

Now I am quite happy, take me a lot of time to adjust the height for to make the backdrop floor match my own floor...

Go in the garden the day before, in the ice and snow, kick with my boots this flowers pots to remove it from ice...

Washed it and now ready to use

Nahum always sleepy in the blanket :D Carefully take it. I don't want to excite him

Kisses time, I use a remote, my camera is on a tripod and settled to take pictures with the remote (very useful)

Now I must to make things fast and quick, and not to be far to Nahum, if he want to go out, he we simply jump and can injury himself. So I need to carefully watch him and understand what he want to do.

He is a lot wondering, what crasy thing his mom has invented again :no:

Update about Nahum and Lil Bear

Nahum cancer seems to comes back :no: he loses a lot of hair on his tail :(

I called the vet who gave him the Deslorelin Implant, they gave me an appointment for Friday morning, I was so really happy ... but they called me back again, the vet said that I need to see Nahum's regular vet. I explained I did, and I want him to see if all is ok with the implant, but they don't accepted to give me an appointment.

I am really lost there and not happy

Lil Bear is fine, his eye is less swollen and it is more yellow than red around his eye, but something very very strange, his tail his all yellow now ... beautiful fur but yellow

lil Bear will have an appointment with his regular vet, I will bring Nahum with me, but I know it will be for nothing as it not her she did the implant.

What lil Bear will do for a treat ???????

Dar24 will be happy to know that Lil Bear has eaten a new lamb treat (after more than 2 weeks mixed up with the Luv cat treats) ... Nahum still doesn't touch it !

How how sad I am... sorry to have cut your head ... my lil boy, but you have still a wonderful belly...

I am giving a piece of N-Bone to Lil Bear

My camera is heavy and I had really pain on my hand, to hold it only with one hand because my other was busy with a treat ... lol...

I am working on 2 new walpapers, for Valentine Day, one with Nahum and one with chocolate hearts, will post them soon !

I wanted to do something with red palette color ...

I don't remember how long I have worked on the set up for to be finally happy with the result.

And here are the backstage ... LoL ... ENJOY !!!

The red was too dull so I added a white transparent curtain...

Still not wat I wanted, too red, too dull, too empty... I looked on my material and remember I have a backdrop almost transparent with plenty spots on it... I installed it front of the red sheet

Hummm, really better...

Hahaha... just too funny, very artistic socks !

I found the burgundy curtain under Nahum not enough fine, so I changed it for a shirt of mines ;)

People ask how I do for to make my ferrets stay still long enough for photograph them.
As you can see Nahum moves too ... lol ....

I am entering in a competition ... again ...

Well it will be not the first time I am entering in competitions and contests.

Never won though .... 2 honorable mentions ....

I won an Award in last October with my photo titled Imagine, but it was a total surprise because I didn't entered it in any competitions. You see sometimes ... how is Life !

Well I took a break, it is always hard on the mood .... but the destiny made me to enter again.

Well the competition is about the High Key technique photography...

This means photos without deep shadows and usually low contrast.
Follow this link to the wikipedia article : High-key lighting or read this article on idigitalphoto.com to get an impression on what high-key photography is.

And well what photo I just submitted ? ..... : Pluie d'Amour

This photo is a perfect example of High-key lighting technique.

We will see.... I love this photo so much ....

I have submit it to some artistic photos groups I belong, and one of the group declined my photo, because : the nose was not on focus and the head was a little too much over-exposed.

Well I have explained the purpose of the photo, and my attempt to make only the eyes of Nahum stand out, by flooded all around with high lighting, using lamps, and high ISO on my camera, and focusing only on the eyes, with a short DOF for to have all the rest of the image fuzzy ....

Anyway....

I don't expect to win, but it always funny to see I am always the only one to come with ferrets in photos competitions ... LoL...

The Treats - The RESULTS -

This article follow this thread : how to make your ferrets to love new treats ?

The only progress is that Nahum took the new treat in his mouth.

Ohhhhh .... how happy...so happy I was...but... It was too much beautiful for to be true.

Nahum just put the treat on the floor...and didn't eat it .... Hopelessly :(

So I took another treat and gave it to Nahum, crossed my fingers, but ... he just put this 2nd treat on the floor more far than the other one...

Oh well the message was clear !!!

Well Lil Bear now. He was up on his legs on my little night table and was begging as always for the treat.

So I presented the new treat to him. It was worse than Nahum, he even don't touched it, but he smelled it a lot. And with his nose had make a real perfect inspection... The treat didn't encounter the high standard of Bear's taste.

So I took the new Ziwi Peak treats and recovered them with the Luv Cat treats without the facial tissue this time...

And let them for 2 other days... But no luck ... the same pattern !

The package of the treats was definitely more interesting than anything :

How to make your Ferrets to Love new Treats

Thank you so much to Dar24 for giving me her tips and this great inspiration for a new tread on my blog.

She suggested me to use cheesecloth for the new treats will not absorb the salt from the Luv treats, but I used facial tissue. (one linen)

Lil Bear and Nahum don't want to know anything about all the new treats I bought for them...

I have 7 sorts of new treats, but for the first try I have chose the Ziwi Peak Lamb

I put on the bottom of one recycled plastic container the Luv cat treats.
Luv cat treats are the Nahum's favorites treats forever, the same for lil Bear.

I put on the facial tissue the Ziwi Peak lamb treats and close it.

I covered up the little bag by other Luv cat treats

Well hermetic closed...

I know plastic containers are good for keep the scent of food for long time, even if you washed it so well.

So I believe the smell of the Luv treats will be very strong inside in it, and the new Ziwi Peak lamb treat will keep the scent.

Now I must to wait 2 days

I will come back with this in 2 days, to write the result ;)

Updates on Nahum and lil Bear :
Nahum has stopped to cough !

On last Tuesday both have seen their regular vet. She didn't saw them since November.
She was sad to see how Nahum's health has dropped.
She said to keep comfortably until his last journey. For now he has no pain and still enjoy little things of life.
The vet thinks perhaps I have 6 other months to live with Nahum if all stay like this.
6 months I must to enjoy plentifully ... If Nahum gives to me really those 6 months, I will be so thankful

She said also the bloody sentence, that one day I will must to be fair for Nahum.
I must to prepare myself. I prepare myself since December when he was diagnosed with his congestive heart failure.
But never I will be ready...never.
I hope I will not have the hard decision to help him to cross the bridge, I wish him to left our world while he is sleeping comfortably in his blanket at home.

Litle Bear :
The vet thinks he has a skin infection. His problem with his eye ... it is the skin around the eye which is swollen and red. The eye itself is correct. I am so relieved about that
So my lil boy is tortured two time per day by putting one drop of antibiotic in his eye... Oh yes that looks as I am tortured him
And he has antibiotic that I can ad in his food. Well the soups seems to be really less delicious
It is just for 15 days ... so ... not too long.

~~I am still waiting for the naturals treats for Nahum and Petit Ours !!!~~

UPDATE : The treats are here !!!! the treats are here ... they arrived yesterday morning (January 26,2010)

UPDATE 2 :

Nahum don't like the treats ... nooooo .... and Lil Bear neither .... Nooooo nooooo :(

I have ordered new treats free of salt for my baby. Plenty of sorts with the hope there will be at least one Nahum will love. I know my boy is very picky... But he loves NO ones .... cries...
